PERSECUTION
Recently, a few Hindu temples have been ransacked by Muslims in Bangladesh and by Sikhs in Canada, and the Government in India has very actively condemned the attacks and advised the respective governments to provide security.
However, back here in India, literally hundreds of churches
have been demolished by goons, aided and abetted by the police, and their
pastors and believers are either in jail or on bail, some have been maimed and
killed. Conversion to Christianity is being criminalized on a daily basis, with
anti-conversion laws leading to jail sentences for as many as 10 years.
Globally,
in the year 2023, over 5000 believers have been killed, 14,000 properties
destroyed, 4000 jailed, and over 3000 million believers live under severe
persecution. In India alone, according to the United Christian Forum based in New Delhi reported 525
violent incidents against Indian Christians within the first eight months of
2023 — up from 505 incidents over the entirety of 2022. Tribal Christians in
Manipur have been targeted and killed by the majority of Meitei ever since the conflict
erupted in May this year.
Although Article 25 of the Constitution of India gives all
persons the right to freely practice, profess and propagate religion,
the Indian law forbids foreigners from participating in any religious
activities. They can apply for a
missionary visa, but that is nearly impossible to get. If you come on a visitor
visa and participate in any religious activities, then at best, you can be immediately
shown the way out of the country or, worse, be jailed for 3 years. You also
cannot bring dollars to give for religious purposes.
This is in complete contrast to Indian Hindu priests who can
go to the West and fully participate in religious activities and even make
money and bring back unlimited amounts to India.
If someone influential can get President Trump to make this
announcement that
1.
We will have reciprocal arrangements
regarding religious matters with foreign governments that:
2.
If they restrict our people
from participating in religious activities, we will restrict their people from
participating in religious activities in our country.
3.
If they restrict NGOs and
Christian religious organizations from receiving donations from abroad, we will
restrict donations to non-Christian organization.
This is a serious issue as persecution of minorities is
escalating at an alarming rate by the day and needs action at the highest
level.
