THE FEAST OF TRUMPETS IN 2025
The Festival of
Trumpets in 2025 will begin on the evening of Monday, September 22, and end on
Wednesday, September 24. It is also known as Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New
Year, marking the first day of the seventh month, Tishri. The key feature of
this celebration is the blowing of the ram’s horn, the shofar, which signifies
remembrance, repentance, and the coming of God’s kingdom.
Biblical
Foundation
- In
Leviticus 23:1–2, 23–25, the Lord commanded Israel to observe this holy
day with rest and the sounding of trumpets.
- At Mount
Sinai (Exodus 19:18), God descended in fire with thunder, lightning, and
the sound of trumpets, signifying His majestic presence.
- This feast
points forward to the return of Jesus Christ, who will come with the sound
of the trumpet, gathering the faithful who trust in Him (1 Thessalonians
4:16-17; 1 Corinthians 15:52).
Prophetic
Meaning
- The High
Priest would enter the Most Holy Place only on this day, sprinkling blood on
the Arc of the Covenant for the atonement of Israel, and releasing a scape
goat outside the city. foreshadowing Jesus’ sacrifice outside the city on
the cross.
- The Book
of Revelation describes seven trumpets, announcing judgments and the
establishment of God’s kingdom. The seventh trumpet signals the completion
of God’s plan and the return of Christ.
- Following
this feast are the Ten Days of Awe, leading to the Day of Atonement
(Leviticus 23:26-32), representing repentance and the opportunity to
accept Jesus as Messiah. According to prophecy, 144,000 Jews will
recognize Him as Messiah. (Luke 13:35)
Signs of the
End Times
- Daniel
12:4 foretold an increase in knowledge and travel, now visible in
technology and global mobility.
- Jesus
warned in Matthew 24:3-14 of wars, earthquakes, false prophets, and
declining faith, which we can observe today in many nations.
- On the
final day, people will either hear the dreadful judgment (Matthew 25:41)
or the blessed invitation into God’s eternal kingdom (Matthew 25:34).
Call to
Reflection
The Festival of
Trumpets reminds believers to prepare for Christ’s return. Hindus during this
time observe nine-days of fasting and prayer but unfortunately seek the divine blessing
from deity. The Bible emphasizes prayer that all people may come to the
knowledge of truth and be saved through Jesus. Christ (1 Timothy 2:4; John
14:6)
