Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus In the Quran and the Bible
Ordinary Muslim brothers believe that the Prophet Jesus did not die on the cross, but Allah made another man as His look-alike and crucified him and instead raised up Jesus alive nearest to Himself. This belief is based on The Quran’s al-Nisa" (4:157,158) "... That they (Jews) said, " We (Jews) killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah";- but they (Jews) killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they (Jews) killed him not. But Allah took him up unto Himself. Allah was ever Mighty, Wise.” The Muslim ulema (Scholars) have made all kinds of interpretations of this verse. However, these verses do not deny the sacrifice of Jesus, but only dismiss the claim of the Jews, that they crucified Jesus and killed him.
