ISRAEL- IRAN WAR – A BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE (Part 2)

A fragile peace agreement has been reached between Israel and Iran, brokered by President Trump. Many feel that since Iran started the war, Israel should have been allowed to finish it. How long this peace will last is anybody’s guess. The Scripture says, “For when they shall say, Peace and safety! Then sudden destruction comes on them, as travail upon a woman with child. And they shall not escape.” (1Thess. 5:3).

God blessed Abraham, And I will bless those that bless you and curse those who curse you. And in you shall all families of the earth be blessed (Genesis 12:3). So there is no doubt about the eventual outcome, as Islam has been cursing Israel, threatening to wipe them off the map.

Historically, anyone who messed with Israel has suffered.  Israel was brutalised in Egypt, following which it was devastated beyond recognition.  The Pharaoh, along with his army, drowned in the Red Sea. Nebuchadnezzar vandalized the Temple in Jerusalem. He became mad, lived naked, and ate grass and hay like an ox.   Belshazzar, the Neo-Babylonian king, who drank from the golden vessels of the Temple, lost his kingdom the same night to Cyrus, the Persian, without a fight. Alexander the Great, who raided Israel, died at the age of 33, and his kingdom was divided into four kingdoms. All the Roman emperors who tortured Christians died a miserable death. Eventually, Athens in Greece and Rome became the HQs of Eastern and Western churches. Herod, who killed John the Baptist, was eaten by worms. In modern times, Hitler, who conducted the genocide of Jews, committed suicide. Queen Jezebel, a Baal worshipper, opposed Elijah, a man of God and was eaten by dogs. Ahmad Deedat mocked Christianity all over the Christian world, suffered a stroke, became bedridden for eleven years and died a miserable death.  Iran has been cursing Israel and the US as small and big satans, threatening their genocide. There are over 100 verses called Sword verses in the Quran, as they call to behead the ‘Kafirs’ (infidels = Christians and Jews) (Quran Surah 2:191; 5:3). On the last day, even the stones will cry out, “There is a Jew hiding behind me. Kill him.” (Sahih Bukhari 4:52:177)

Consequently, Iran, along with its proxies, Hamas, Hezbollah and Houthis, have their backs broken and reduced to rubble. Not only that, but Iran has become hollow from within, with 50,000 Mosques closed, and millions have become ex-Muslims. Over a million people are in the underground house churches and growing, even though apostasy is punishable by death. Remember the story of David and Goliath, the giant. No one can mock God and get away with it.

A long time ago, Jehovah made a covenant with Abram, saying, “I have given this land to your seed, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates, the Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Riphaims, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites” (Genesis 15:18-21). All those ten tribes have been wiped out. The modern-day Palestinians are Arabs.  Only the Hebrews remain with their Torah in writing, traditions and language for the last 3500 years. No other nation has been able to do that.

Not known to many Muslims, even the Quran confirms, “And when Moses said to his people: O my people! Remember the favour of Allah upon you when He raised prophets among you and made you kings and gave you what He had not given to any other among the nations. O my people! Enter the holy land (Palestine) which Allah has assigned to you and turn not back for then you will be losers" (Surah al Maida 5:20,21). Disobeying this clear injunction in the Quran will be committing ‘shirk’, which is an unforgivable sin.

So, is this the end? Most emphatically, ‘no’. According to Lord Jesus, this is just the beginning of the sorrows – just the trailer – the real deal is yet to take place when a coalition of Gog of Magog (Russia and Turkey), Persia (Iran), Cush (Sudan), and Put (Libya) attack Israel. In the meanwhile, those who reject Christ or curse his people and those happy clappy disobedient Christians stagnating on pews, here is an opportunity to get out of the bondage of the four walls, repent, press the “Reset Button” and join the persecuted first generation followers of Christ who are advancing the Kingdom and paying the price and  fulfil his will, “If you love me, you will obey my commands.”  (John 14:15)
