Christ-Centered Communities

Present Day C1 to C6 Spectrum of Churches  C- 1 Western traditional model. Service conducted in foreign language. Leader outsider. Exclusive as it requires “specials” - special building, special music, special pulpit and a special collection box. Obeys denominational rules rather than obeying the commands of Jesus. No vision and strategy for the lost. Lacks reproductive DNA. Non-reproducible and fruitless. Acts 21:19-26, John 15:5 C- 2 Worship in the local language. Equally clueless as C1. Busy in church program and church politics. Knowledge based leader - trained as aquarium keeper rather than skills based “fisher of men”. Considers only himself “ordained” for ministry while others as “laymen”, thus denying that the blood of the Lamb divinely ordains “all believers” to be prophets, priests and kings to the nations. No burden for seeking and saving the lost, hence barren. Exodus 19:5,6; Math. 4:19; Luke 19:10; John 15:16; 1Peter 2:9; Revelation 1:5,6; 5:9,10 C- ...

PENTECOST: The day that changed the world forever

Today is the 2014 th Birthday of the church. Pentecost was a harvest festival. Jesus converted it into harvest of souls. Jews believe that that the Old Covenant was given to Moses around 3500 years ago in the wilderness on this day when they were appointed to be the kingdom priests to all the nations of the earth. Exodus19:5, 6. 40 days after the Passover Jesus commanded the 500 who came to witness his ascension to wait in Jerusalem until the power from on high has come. 1 Cor. 15:6 Only 120 men and women obeyed. The Holy Spirit came as tongues of fire on them. Acts 1:14, 15; 2:1-3 Peter gave a short exhortation and people from every nation under the heaven heard the gospel message in their own native tongues. Acts 2:5 They asked what shall we do? Peter commanded them to repent, be baptized and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit for the transformation of their own families and for the transformation of Gentiles. Acts 2:37-39 3000 families, (Jews only counted the men...

Greet The Church In Your House

Image
When it first appeared in 1999, Dr. Victor Choudhrie's  Greet the Church in Your House  ruffled more than a few feathers. Defenders of traditional church planting and mission models found the book's ideas iconoclastic. Dr. Choudhrie's book has now been revised and relaunched for the e-book generation. I first met Dr. Choudhrie in 2002, while serving as a missionary in India. Even before that, though, I seemed to hear his name from everyone who was seeing multiplying movements of new churches in India. All roads to movements seemed to pass through Dr. Choudhrie's influence. Victor and Bindu's passion for the unreached and deep insights into Scriptural models for the Christian life, made them natural gurus for generations of young missionaries and local church planters who wanted to see fidelity to New Testame nt patterns and the dynamism that accompanied it in their own ministries.  The Choudhries did  not disappoint. Despite whatever grumblings accompanied Dr....
